Please comment on these rough vox pops! There are two posted here, and two more in the following post. Please listen to one of the voxes in this post, and one in the next.

The two voxes included here are: “Bad Break Up Stories,” maybe for Valentine’s Day
and “How Does Your Language Dictate Your Life? — a vox about how we speak and how we’re perceived. .

    We’re interested in knowing:
    1. what you liked
    2. what you felt you wanted more of and what was missing in the piece that needs to be there
    3. what needs to be cut
    4. what we can work on, technically

THANK YOU. We really want to hear your comments, and we look forward to commenting on your pieces too.

Hi Curie! We at outLoud Radio really got into listening to your pieces. We recorded our discussion of the black languague slang vox. Of course it’s much longer than your actual piece. (Typical, huh?)

Please let us know if you have any questions after you listen to the feedback. Thanks so much for sharing!

Xochitl, producer of the “Black language” vox, says:

Thanks for the feedback, this was a very challenging piece to work with. There were four of us working on it after school, during lunch, etc. I understand the comments made about the question not being clear, and there being parts in there that should not have been there. We decided to begin with Obama to show how language ties in with success, but again, our question wasn’t clear. We worked on the piece at different times, so the editing and fading might have been off because we each changed it a little on our own. The examples of slang were just that. Examples. If anyone was offended by them, i apologize but we didnt feel anyone was being fake with their responses so we kept them there. Maybe we should have researched the topic of slang more, but I think that wouldve taken us somewhere else, because then questions like “who does slang belong to” “what race created what slang terms”…come up…..at least, thats what I think. There weren’t adults speaking because the project was supposed to be done from a youth perspective…….So yeah.
