Radio Rookies: Our 9/11
Radio Rookie Producers
For the six Radio Rookies who share their stories in WNYC’s “Our 9/11: Growing Up in the Aftermath,” 9/11 isn’t a historical event, it’s defined their lives so far. From dealing with racial prejudice to mourning the loss of family, to discovering a sense of purpose, “Our 9/11″ helps answer the question, “How do you commemorate a day you wish had never happened?”
Welcoming New Groups
Hot dog! Youth radio groups have been springing up all over the country. Besides WUNC’s Youth Radio Club (featured at left), check out these new groups on PRX.

We Came. We listened. It Rocked: Digital Waves Festival
Allison Jones and Veralyn Williams talk Jobs, Jobs, Jobs
The scene at WNYC’s Greene Space on July 30th was something to behold: dozens of young people from all five boroughs and as far away as Maine coming together for the first ever Digital Waves Youth Media Festival. In workshops and panels, they talked radio, jobs, sound design, and media justice. The day capped off with a throwdown of youth stories in the second ever Youth Audio Slam. You can relive the event via the blog and photos, and virtually attend the GPRX workshop: “Getting Past ‘Good:’ Critiquing Audio Work.”
This Just In
If you’re in Chicago on October 23rd, don’t miss the Filmless Festival, a celebration of sound, story and listening hosted by our friends at Third Coast. Guaranteed awesome.
